NEW ABOUT DAN
Dan McGregor is the Democratic Candidate for Ohio’s Senate District 10 seat in the 2024 race. District 10 comprises all of Clark, Greene, and Clinton counties
Dan grew up in the Midwest where he completed an undergraduate degree in physics and a graduate degree in electrical engineering. Having lived abroad in Hamburg, Germany and Montpellier, France, His varied career includes fifteen years in engineering services, research and development, and technical sales as well as ten years’ experience as a residential and commercial mortgage broker.
Recently, Dan worked as a civilian employee at Edwards AFB and worked for a defense contractor at Wright Patterson AFB. Dan is also supporting his community’s public schools by serving as a supplemental substitute teacher at Beavercreek High School where he recently taught honors physics.
Why I’m running
Dan has served the Greene County Democratic Party as a lead precinct captain working to increase the visibility of Democrats in the area. That experience gave Dan the inspiration to serve his community and provide a bigger impact by running for office.
Dan chose to run for office because he believes that the democratic form of governance is the only form that can leave a thriving legacy to future generations of Ohioans. As the senator for District 10 he will work to enhance democratic decision-making throughout Ohio. He will fight for balanced perspectives and oppose the growing non-democratic concentration of governing power that shuts out dissenting voices.
As a boomer, Dan is very concerned about the legacy that his generation is leaving to younger generations. He is running for office to advance widely popular issues such as support for public education, reproductive rights, access to healthcare, and affordable housing. However, fundamental to all of those goals, Dan seeks to raise awareness among Ohioans in Senate District 10 about how its "checks and balances" are weakened when supermajorities in the General Assembly exist. That’s why he supports the anti-gerrymandering initiative, Issue 1, on the ballot in November.
As your State Senator, Dan will work to improve the following challenges facing the future of Ohioans:
an eroding public education system that is underfunded and falls short in preparing our students to participate in democratic processes and our ever evolving economy,
the difficulty that younger generations have finding good jobs, affordable housing, and having families (if they want one),
the damaging effects of divisive political discourse on the well-being of the entire population, young, old and everyone in-between,
the growing challenge of losing our checks and balances here in Ohio and the resulting erosion of confidence of our institutions,
the ever more damaging and costly effects of the climate crisis.
